Who We Are…

Unitarian Universalism is a progressive, non-dogmatic religion based on the 7 Principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association:

1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

UU congregations come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are large and well-established, while others are small, lay-led groups meeting in members’ homes or rented space and sharing the responsibility for creating meaningful worship services. Sometimes these small, emerging congregations thrive and grow, eventually calling a minister.

Unitarian Universalists of Troy is in the initial, exploratory phase of reaching out to the community to gather charter members. If you are looking for a religion that offers a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, Unitarian Universalism might be for you.
